Kitui KMTC courses – what courses are offered at the Kenya Medical Training College in Kitui?

Well, the last time I checked on the Kitui KMTC webpage (kmtc.ac.ke/kitui), there are several courses on offer at Kitui KMTC. One of those, and probably the most sought after is the diploma in clinical medicine and surgery. By the time you complete this course at Kitui KMTC campus, you would be a qualified clinical officer, capable of being employed by the government, by an NGO, by a private hospital or even eventually setting up your own private practice. While lucrative, I am told that the KMTC diploma in clinical medicine and surgery offered at Kitui KMTC is also one of the most demanding.

Another course offered at Kitui KMTC campus is the diploma in Kenya Registered community health nursing – probably another of the most widely sought after courses.  By the time you complete that particular course, you would be a qualified nurse, paving the way for you to be employed by the government, or by one of the medical NGOs, or by a private health facility… there have even been cases of Kenya registered nurses getting work abroad because they are very well regarded.

Another of the competitive courses offered at Kenya Medical Training College Kitui is the diploma in Medical Labotorary Sciences. By the time you complete that course, you would be qualified to work as a medical lab technician, which is a very critical and sometimes lucrative role.

The Kitui KMTC campus apparently also has courses at certificate level in environmental health and medical records and information technology… among other areas.

According to kmtc.ac.ke/kitui, the Kitui campus of KMTC was established in the year 2004 and looking at it casually gives the impression that it is one of the best equipped KMTC campuses in Kenya. And it is attached to a relatively busy hospital (Kitui Level 5) which translates into a great deal of positive exposure for the students in the course of their training.
