Well, the Kitui KMTC campus is within Kitui town, adjacent to the
Kitui general hospital which is nowadays known as Kitui level 5 hospital/Kitui County Referral Hospital. The
gate to the Kitui KMTC is along the B7 road. So from Kitui town CBD, you move
past Kunda Kindu, and as you start to move towards Wikililye (but stil within Kitui
Town) you will find the gate to the Kitui KMTC.
My understanding is that the Kitui KMTC offers most of the
courses that are offered within the KMTC system – including nursing courses,
medical laboratory technician courses, environmental health courses, clinical
officers courses, health records courses… and so on.
The Kitui KMTC is one of the better equipped KMTC campuses,
and it helps too that it is attached to a busy hospital (namely Kitui level 5
hospital) which means that the students get a great deal of exposure.
My understanding is that KMTC admissions at centralized,
meaning that you simply apply to KMTC, then get posted to Kitui KMTC campus or whichever other campus (but I could be wrong on that).
What I know for sure is that the Kitui KMTC campus has
boosted the economy in the area around Kunda Kindu a great deal. I mean, with a
student population of 1,000+, most of whom
seem to live in off-campus accommodation, the impact of the Kitui KMTC
can be felt for sure. Rental houses that would otherwise be vacant are occupied
by the Kitui KMTC students. The Kitui Kenya Medical Training College students
are also major customers patronizing the businesses around that area.
If you
go to the KMTC website, Kitui campus page (kmtc.ac.ke/kitui), you are likely to
find more information about the courses that are offered at Kitui KMTC. At the
bottom end of that webpage -- kmtc.ac.ke/kitui, you will find an email address and a phone number
you can call to get in touch with the folks in charge of Kitui KMTC. You just
need to go to kmtc.ac.ke/kitui – for all that and more.
