Well, it depends on which side of Bombolulu you wish to
reside in. You see, there are two ‘sides’ in Bombolulu. The first one is the Bombolulu
low cost neighborhood, where low cost mostly single rooms and bedsitter houses
are to be found. So this are parts of Bombolulu like Sports, Carribean,
Workshop, Arise and Shine, Timboni, VOK, Kisimani, Mavitandani and so on. The
other one is the Bombolulu estate, where members of the middle class reside,
and where most of the houses are either one bedroomed, two bedroomed and even three bedroomed type.
Now if you are looking for a house in the first ‘side’ of
Bombolulu (areas like Bombolulu Sports, Workshop, Carribean, VOK, Kisimani,
Miami)… and so on, the best thing to do would be to go on the ground. You may
find buildings with signs indicating that there are vacant rooms there, and with numbers you can call to make inquiries. So you
proceed to call the numbers on the posters, and organize for viewings.
Alternatively, you can visit the various house agents who operate in Bombolulu
and try to get them to get you a house to rent. There is one around Ziwa la Ng’ombe
primary school known as Sumton and he is quite good. There used to be another
one on the highway (close to the 24 hours café) known as Mwalimu Homecare… I
don’t know if he is operational. But anyways, there are lots of house agents in
Bombolulu. You will usually find a board indicating various vacant room rental
prices, with a number you can call to contact the agent.
What you need to know
is that the agents will probably charge you a viewing fee, and if you find a
room you like, they will probably charge you a commission as well.
You of
course can also visit various houses on your own, and ask the people living
there if there are vacant rooms. Still, for houses that are under the management of agents, you
would still end up having to pay commissions, though probably not as much as if
it was the agent who showed you the room.
If
you are looking for a house in the Bombolulu estate (or the classier
one-bedroomed, two-bedroomed or bedsitters in places like Sports, Workshop,
Ziwa la Ng’ombe, Kasarani, VOK, Kisimani and so on) you can search online. Or
visit the ground and look for vacant room/vacant house notices pasted on the walls, gates
and so on. Or visit the various buildings and just ask if there are vacant
rooms there. Or engage the services of Bombolulu house agents, who can quickly
show you good vacant rooms – but at a fee. Thing is, if you need a room urgently, the
agents can be really useful.
