Well, the most straightforward way to travel from Mombasa to
Malindi is by road.
If you want to use public transport, then the place to go is
the Buxton (Bakstani) bus station, where the Mombasa to Malindi Matatus pick
their passengers. That is also where the Mombasa to Malindi buses and minibuses
pick their passengers. So just get yourself to the Buxton bus station, board a
Malindi bound bus or a Malindi bound matatu from there, and within 2 and a half
hours [or 3 hours], you should be in Malindi.
Some of the matatus plying the Mombasa to Malindi route are
under the Faulu Malindi Sacco. Others are under the MOM Sacco (Matatu Owners
Mombasa) sacco, whereas others are under the Rahma Sacco. There are some buses
plying the Mombasa to Malindi route, including those that are owned by a person
known as R.K Issa from Kaloleni. The buses tend to charge lower fares for the
trip between Mombasa and Malindi. But they do tend to take much longer to fill
up, and they also tend to take longer on the road than the Mombasa to Malindi
nissans. But they are good if you want to save money, and if you don't mind spending one extra hour on the trip from Mombasa to Malindi.
En
route from Mombasa to Malindi, you will pass by places like Nyali Bridge, Nyali
Lights, Bombolulu, Nyali Kenol, Mtwapa, Majengo (where there are EPZ companies), Kanamai, Shariani, Mavueni and
Kilifi (which is an important milestone in this journey). Then after Kilifi you
would go through towns like Tezo, Chumani, Matsangoni and Gede before finally
arriving in Malindi.
