Well, as the name suggests, Changamwe Secondary School is in
Changamwe area of Mombasa. It is around the area known as Malandi. From Mombasa
Island, you take the Makupa Causeway, cross the Kibarani Bridge, and drive on
to Changamwe Round-About (where the Changamwe Interchange is taking shape).
There, at Changamwe Round About/Changamwe Interchange, you turn right (to take
the road that goes towards Mikindani). You travel on that road for just a short
distance, up to the Total Petrol Station and turn left at the road near there.
Then you immediately turn left again to take the service road which would then
take you to Changamwe Secondary School.
Changamwe Secondary School is adjacent to Changamwe Primary
School, and I actually think that the secondary school grew from the primary.
Changamwe Seco is one of the better public schools in
Changamwe and the entire Mombasa West area. It does reasonably well in
academics and the students who school there seem to be reasonably well
disciplined (at least the ones I have interacted with) which is remarkable for
a day secondary school in Mombasa these days.
From humble beginnings, it has the years, it has become a reasonably well equipped high school, thanks to contributions from the parents, government
capitation and input from the Changamwe CDF, especially during the Omar Mwinyi
era.
One
of the teachers from Changamwe Secondary was recently nominated for the global
teacher award.
