Katulani is one of the areas surrounding Kitui Town.
To travel from Kitui town to Katulani, you follow this
route: from Kitui town, you take the B7 Highway for a short distance, up to
Wikililye. At Wikililye you turn right, and take the Katulani-Kavisuni road.
Then you travel along that road for a few kilometers, to get to Katulani.
You can catch a matatu from Kitui town to Katulani at the
Kitui Kunda Kindu PSV terminus. There are always matatus plying the
Kitui-Katulani-Kavisuni route, and the place to find them is Kunda Kindu.
Many of the people working in Kitui town come from places
like Katulani and Kavisuni, among other areas surrounding Kitui town.
The people of Katulani tend to be very nice and
well-cultured. They are frankly among the most cultured of all Kamba people.
There are of course a few bad apples, but the people of Katulani and Kavisuni
tend to be truly nice. The Kikamba that is spoken in Katulani is of course the Kitui accent, but not exactly Kithaisu. It is, in my view, a Kitui accent that is somewhat different from Kithaisu. I mean, it is different from the deep Kithaisu that you find in places like Sombe and Endau...
In Kitui town, around the Kunda Kindu area, there is a
Katulani bar that sells keg beer at very pocket-friendly prices, with lots of
nice music to go with it.
The people of Katulani and Kavisuni to be very
aggressive businessmen, but for the most part, they also tend to be reasonable people.
