Gamama Sacco Matatus: How do they operate?

Well, Gamama Sacco Matatus operate in Garissa. They are what would be considered Garissa Town Service matatus. The last time I checked, I found that most of the Gamama Sacco matatus operate on the route between Garissa Town, Mororo and Madogo.
You see, a good number of the people who work in Garissa town actually sleep in Mororo and Madogo towns (which are administratively in Tana River county). So to transport these people from Mororo and Madogo to Garissa town – that is where the Gamama Sacco matatus come into play.
Most of the matatus under Gamama Sacco are 14 seater Nissans, with a good number of them operated by Somalis, but also some meru, kamba, pokomo and Orma among other peoples.
You can catch the Gamama Sacco matatus in Garissa town around ‘Hela’ area. They also tend to pick some passengers at Mororo, just past the Garissa Tana River bridge. They tend to charge reasonably low fares, and they really help people because if people were to rely on boda bodas to travel between Garissa, Mororo and Madogo, it would be too expensive. And walking between these areas can also be an oppressive experience, given the ever high temperatures in and around Garissa town.
