The route between Machakos town and Emali town is
straightforward. From Machakos town, you move to the Machakos Mombasa road
junction (Makutano ma Kyumbi). Then at Makutano Ma Kyumbi, you turn left and
join the Mombasa road. You travel past towns like Malili, Salama and Sultan
Hamud, to finally arrive at Emali.
I think there is another route, where from Machakos town,
you take the new road through Katumani, to join Mombasa road near Konza, then
you travel past towns like Malili, Salama (Yoani) and Sultan Hamud, to finally
arrive at Emali.
At times, you may find Emali-bound matatus at the Machakos
bus terminus. If you can’t, then what you need to do is take one of the numerous
matatus that serve the Machakos-Makutano route, then at Makutano, you can get
an Emali bound matatu or bus without a hitch. Some of the Emali-bound matatus you can catch at Makutano ma Kyumbi include the Faith Matatus, Kathi Matatus and the various Umowa Sacco matatus. There are also the various Mombasa bound buses, including those from Chania Genesis and Chania cool that accept passengers between Makutano and Emali. If you don't mind, there is also the option of traveling between Makutano and Emali using a truck. But a bus or matatu is more recommended, unless you are in a desperate situation.
The journey between Machakos and Emali is one that is likely
to take you around one hour if you are driving, and one and a half hours if you
are using public means.
If you want to travel by SGR from Machakos to
emali, what you need to is take a matatu from Machakos town to either the
Athiriver SGR station or to the Syokimau SGR terminus. Then once you are there,
you take the Mombasa bound intercounty SGR train, and alight at Emali.
